Biography

Andrew Broadaway represents employers, executives, and individuals in all types of labor and employment matters. Mr. Broadaway has appeared on behalf of clients in all aspects of employment and commercial litigation, including jury trials, arbitration, administrative hearings, agency investigations, and mediation. He has directed wide-ranging litigation and motions practice in both individual and class actions in federal and state courts and has particular expertise in wage-and-hour, employment discrimination and retaliation, technology, non-competition, employee and customer non-solicitation, and trade secret litigation. Mr. Broadaway was selected by his peers for inclusion starting in the 2021 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for his work in Litigation – Employment Law, and has since been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® 2026 for Litigation – Labor and Employment. He was also named to Austin Monthly’s 2024 and 2025 Top Attorneys list in Labor and Employment. Mr. Broadaway also enjoys an active practice advising and counseling individual and institutional clients on a range of employment-related topics, auditing pay practices, drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements, reviewing and creating employee handbooks and policies, and training clients on all aspects of employment law.

A partner at the Firm since January 2020, Mr. Broadaway joined Cornell Smith in 2015 following a two-year clerkship with the Honorable Lee Yeakel, U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Texas.  A past-president of the Austin Federal Bar Association, he also serves as a founder and executive board member of the Central Texas Federal Bench Bar Conference. Given his experience in the Austin Division of the Western District of Texas, Mr. Broadaway often serves as local counsel on all manner of civil litigation in the Western District. 

Prior to pivoting to a legal career, Mr. Broadaway earned a degree in computer science and worked in the high-tech industry, specializing in data security, networking, and privacy. He is a former Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Mr. Broadaway therefore frequently advises clients on matters that relate to technology, confidentiality, data security, privacy, and trade secrets.

Outside of work, Mr. Broadaway is an avid cyclist and camper, amateur chef and charcuterist, wine enthusiast, and proud father.
